"A Matter of the Heart" This presentation depicts the history of the organized caring for the dead. This informative talk starts back 62,000 years ago and progresses up to current day trends. Lots of interesting anecdotes and though provoking ideas. The Guinness book of World Records lists burial of the dead as the world’s oldest profession. Funeral service has a great history of dealing with our emotions…matters of the heart. Let Ray tell you the story.
As Long as the Death Rate Stays at 100%, Why not Plan Ahead? We buy insurance in case our house burns down or our car gets wrecked. Yet, we all know we will die someday, but we don’t want to plan for that. This talk addresses the value and benefits of making final plans in advance.
"Emotions vs. Intellect, Why We Have Funerals" Grief is the emotional response to death. All too often, people try to deal with grief at an intellectual level, often with tragic results. Let's take an honest look at how we remember those who have lived...and died. This is a very thought-provoking talk that addresses many of the criticisms leveled at funeral service.
Cremation & Memorial Societies: Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow"Cremation and the role of memorial societies is increasingly becoming an option for many. Ray is the founder of the SC Cremation and Burial Society. He will explain the similarities and differences between funeral homes and memorial societies and how each has a vital role in the community.
"How to Select a Funeral Home"The yellow pages are not the place to go to select a funeral home. A practical discussion for caregivers and the general public about discovering the differences, and there are usually many, between funeral homes in your community.
