Alan "Burke" Taylor

Alan "Burke" Taylor, 63, of Irmo, S.C. left us on March 16, 2024, after a valiant battle with heart disease. He was surrounded by his family and friends that he held dear. Even the nurses he had met took their time to come and say goodbye. Everyone who knew Burke, even for a short time, loved him, his humor, and his outlook on life. He was endlessly funny and a well-loved man to all. He loved Hawaiian Culture and took a great amount of pride in his time as a member of the U.S.Coast Guard and was lucky emough to have been able to serve his time there. He retired after a career with ArincDirect, in Hawaii and California. He then moved his family back to his beloved South Carolina. He found that he loved staying busy and worked until his death at Lowe's.

He was an adventurer and traveled well. But one of his greatest adventures was sailing with his best friend and brother, Mike, from St. Martin to the Florida coast. The stories are endless with the two of them. Most of all, his children were first in his life. All he did was for them.

Burke was born in Atlanta, Ga. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert Emory Taylor and Patricia Taylor. Surviving are his children, Morgan, Riley and Alex Taylor, all of Irmo; his step-son, Camden Bullen of Irmo; Siblings, Mike (Lisa) Taylor of Elizabeth City, NC, Phyllis (Ed) McCallum of Irmo, SC; Keith (Lorena) Taylor of Oldsmar, Fl. In addition, he is survivied by numerous neices and nephews who loved him truly.

When Burke passed away, his older brother, Mike, was fighting a battle of his own to which he is now at peace in Heaven, with our Savior. Mike knew his time was short and asked to have a dual service for the two of them, to be laid side by side. We honored his wish and hence, have waited to post funeral arrangements for them both.

A dual graveside service with military honors for both will be hold on Monday, April 29, 2024 at 1:00pm ihn Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
