Alice Rudean Brown Arowood

Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Rudean Brown Arowood will be held on Friday, January 14, 2011 at 1pm at GEORGE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTER, 211 Park Ave, SW, Aiken. Interment will follow in Mt. Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight Thursday from 6-8pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to Aiken SPCA, 401 Wire Rd, Aiken, SC, 29801.

Mrs. Arowood, 78, of Williston, died Sunday, January 9, 2011 at her residence.

Born in Fitzgerald, GA, she was the daughter of the late William and Bertha L. Stalls Brown. She moved to Williston in 1955. She served as Postmaster for ten years in the White Pond community. She retired after 25 years at Rheem Manufacturing. Rudean loved to cook, work in her garden, and sew.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Jesse Lee Arowood, brothers, WT Brown, Tommy Brown, Edison Brown, Julius Brown, sisters, Lille Mae Seagroves, Avi-Jean Smith. She is survived by her sons, Gary Arowood, Augusta, GA; Michael Arowood, Williston, daughters, Susan Andy Chapman, Beech Island, SC, Rose Keith Hutto, White Pond, SC; sisters, Willie Mae Rogers, Evelyn Barnes, Fitzgerald, GA; grandchildren, Samuel Chapman, Maggie Chapman, Rebekah Chapman, Joy Chapman, Daniel Hutto, Alice Hutto, Hunter Arowood, and Michael Arowood.
