Barbara Ann Knight

February 26, 1938 — March 30, 2023

Barbara Ann Knight, 85, of Aiken SC, passed on to her heavenly home on March 30th, 2023. Barbara was born in Detroit Michigan and had been a resident of Aiken for 30 years. She worked for the county of Aiken and retired in 2005. Barbara was a writer, artist and poet. She enjoyed writing short stories and poems. She was a member of the Aiken Poets group for many years where she published her artwork and poetry in annual anthologies. For many years she was a member of Angels for Hope, creating crocheted angels which she sent to people in need of hope and encouragement. She enjoyed traveling, playing golf and bowling frequently with her husband and friends.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, William and Alice Allan of Charlevoix, Michigan; her sister, Beverly Wantin; brother-in-law, Armas Wantin of Southfield Michigan; and brother, Richard Allan of Farmington Hills, Michigan.

She is survived by husband of over 62 years, Earnest Knight of Aiken, South Carolina; son, James (Lori) Knight of Milan Michigan; daughter, Susan (Lawrence) Tyler of Wood River, Nebraska; son, Edward Knight of Reading, Ohio; and son, David Knight of Wood River, Nebraska; Grand children Shannon Reyes, Aaron Knight, William Tyler, Jonathon Tyler, Michael Knight, and Lindsey Knight. Great Grandchildren, Mackenzie Knight, Austin Knight, and Cameron Tyler; Cousin John (Sharon) Newman of Hamilton, Ontario. She also leaves behind nieces and nephews and many extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., April 6, 2023, in The George Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Aaron Woodward officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home parlor following the service.
