Betty Jean Bennington

AIKEN, SC - Betty Jean Bennington, age 80, entered into rest peacefully on Monday, September 5, 2016 at her residence surrounded by family.

Mrs. Bennington was born February 23, 1936 in Greenville, SC to the late Paul and Gladys Irvin Albea. She was a member of Redd's Branch Baptist Church and also enjoyed attending Woodridge Baptist Church in Clearwater, SC.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bennington was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alvin Bennington, Jr.; a brother, Joseph Albea; and a sister, Patricia Jenkins Mabry.

She is survived by four sons, Paul Bennington (Sherry), Albany, GA, Alvin Bennington III, Aiken, SC, Richard Bennington (Pat), Graniteville, SC, and James Bennington, Graniteville, SC; seven grandchildren, James Bennington (Cindy), Amy Kline (Bryan), Chasity Bennington, Amanda McGahee (Josh), Joseph Bennington (Sonya), Abi Bennington, and Heather Waters (Christian); and six great-grandsons.

Friends may call this Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at George Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 8, 2016 in the George Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Tom Kalliokoski will officiate. Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens.
