Mr. Charles Edward Browder, 85, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ, his Savior, on January 7, 2025. The funeral will be held at Corinth Baptist Church, New Ellenton, SC, on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. and burial will be at 4:00 p.m. at St. Andrews Cemetery, Darien, GA. Active pallbearers will be Kevin Browder, Brian Browder, Chase Browder, Carson Browder, Caiden Browder, and Justin Guy. Honorary pallbearers are Allen Smith and Lawton Wadsworth. Due to possible inclement weather on Friday, the family will receive friends on Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at The Historic George Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
He was born on August 17, 1939, in Brunswick, GA and was the son of the late Ray V. and Gladys Estelle Coleman Browder, Sr. He was married to Maxine Malissa “Missie” Neville Browder, his bride of 56 years. He is survived by his wife, “Missie”; daughter, Tonya A. Browder Guy (Justin), Edgefield, SC; son, Charles Kevin Browder (Jenny), New Ellenton, SC; son, Brian Edward Browder (Pam), Aiken, SC; eight grandchildren, Charles Kevin “Chase” Browder, Jr. (Jasmine), Carson Kenneth Browder, Caiden Kole Browder, Brianna Lane Browder, Bryson Edward Browder, Angelina Marie Browder, Zoe Abigail Browder, and Victoria Browder; and one great-grandson, Charles Lee Browder. He is pre-deceased by a brother, Ray Vernon Browder, Jr. and a son, Charles Edward Browder, Jr.
He was graduated from Aiken High School in 1957 and started at Presbyterian College that same year. He was drafted into the Army in 1960 and served in the Army Military Police from January 1962 to December 1964, in Germany, and acquired the rank of SP-4 at discharge. He later went back to Presbyterian College and was graduated in 1966 with a BA degree in Business. He worked for AFLAC as an agent in sales for 35 years. He was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and the American Legion. His hobbies included family times, weightlifting, fishing, hunting, and reading. He was also an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs. He was dedicated to his family and loved to make people laugh. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
