Charles G. Spencer

AIKEN, SC- Mr. Charles G. Spencer, beloved husband of Joyce Spencer, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2016.

Mr. Spencer was born January 8, 1929 in Boone County, WV to the late Pete and Ethel Spencer. He proudly served his country in the United States Marines and saw active duty during the Korean War. Mr. Spencer retired after 20 years with General Motors. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, and watching football. He will be remembered someone that no one had a bad word to say about.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and six brothers.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Joyce M. Spencer; a daughter, Sherri Schillinger (Shawn), Dacula, GA; a son, Chuck Spencer (Rosemary), Charlotte, NC; and four grandchildren, Sarah Rose Schillinger, Victoria Schillinger, Joseph Spencer, and Dr. Tara Woodroof (Will).

Friends may call this Wednesday evening from 5 until 7 PM at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, January 14, 2015 in the George Funeral Chapel. The Reverend Terry Butler will officiate. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery with military honors.
