David Alan Nees

Basye, VA-David Alan Nees died June 14, 2015 of a sudden heart attack in Aiken, South Carolina.

Mr. Nees was born on May 30, 1950 in Lebanon, IN to Richard Nees and Helen Verplank. Mr. Nees was married to Deborah Kay Erickson on December 31, 1981.

Mr. Nees is survived by a wife, Deborah, four step children, Jennifer Sullivan of Winter Park, FL; J. Christian Erickson of Ft. Myers, FL; Matthew Erickson of Windermere, FL; and Amanda Floyd of Stephens City, VA. He also leaves behind five grandchildren Kerry, Daniel, Cassandra, Xavier and Trevor, as well as one brother, Garry of Ft. Myers, FL.

Mr. Nees attended North Central High School in Marion County, IN and two years at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN.

Mr. Nees served as a member of the US Navy from 1969 to 1972 aboard the USS Hancock and served in Vietnam. He earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1972.

Mr. Nees was employed as independent contractor with Truck Movers, Inc of St. Louis, MO.

Mr. Nees enjoyed working around the house, woodworking and spending time with his family and friends.

Memorial Services will be held June 24, 2015 at 10:30am at the Prince of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Basye, VA. Final interment will be held at a later date in Hermitage, PA.
