Donald Roberts

Funeral services for Donald Roberts, 85, of Aiken, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Grace Covenant Church of God in New Ellenton, under the care of GEORGE FUNERAL HOME. Officiating will be Rev. Edgar Foster and Rev. David Holdman. Entombment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Roberts, passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2017. Born in Unaka, NC, he was a son of the late David and Josephine Smith Roberts. He retired from DuPont SRP after 38 years. He enjoyed working in the yard and listening to southern gospel music. He was a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and he loved his family but most of all, he loved his Lord. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 51 years, Bobbie Lee Roberts, a daughter, Denece Randall, 1 sister and 5 brothers.

Surviving are his wife, June W. Roberts of Aiken, daughters, Patricia Dyches and Judie Hinson, both of Aiken; a son, Donald L. Roberts, Sr., of Aiken, a sister, Winona Lambert of Jackson, GA; stepchildren, Karen Lynn Waide of New Ellenton, Sharen Coleman of Montmorenic, Tonya Mauldin of Alabama and Rickey Steve Corbett, II of Aiken, 7 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren and 10 step-great grandchildren.
