Earl Ellison Carpenter

AIKEN, SC - Funeral services for Mr. Earl Ellison Carpenter, age 87, of Piper Road, Aiken, SC, will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, May 21, 2017 in the George Funeral Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. John Huff.

Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Ben Baynham, Kenny Arthur II, Lewis Arthur, and Tommy Hill

The family will receive friends beginning one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Carpenter was called home by his Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 18, 2017. He was born December 10, 1929 in Aiken, SC to the late Raymond Haston Carpenter and the late Minnie Lee Carpenter. He was a lifelong area resident and retired from the Graniteville Company. His life on Earth was filled with the love of his family, friends, and his hobbies of hunting, fishing, and growing the best tomatoes in the world.

Mr. Carpenter was preceded in death by his beloved wives, Jospehine "Joe" Baxley Carpenter and Mary Holsenback Carpenter and a sister, Lillian Carpenter Wiles. He is survived by a son, Bobby Carpenter (Nancy), Aiken, SC; four daughters, Cathy C. Lewis (Murray) of North Carolina, Patricia C. Arthur (Ken), Graniteville, SC, Glenda C. Hill (Freddie), Warrenville, SC and Janice C. Baynam, Ridge Spring, SC; a brother, Ray Carpenter; fourteen grandchildren; and twenty-six great-grandchildren.
