Edward W. Pottmeyer

October 3, 1931 — May 1, 2003

A Mass of Christian Burial for Edward W. Pottmeyer, Jr. was celebrated on

Monday May 5, 2003 at 10:00am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, O'Hara Twp. PA.

Interment followed at St. Mary's Cemetery, Pittsburgh, PA. A memorial

service in Aiken, SC will be held on Saturday, May 31st at 3:30

at Woodside Plantation Country Club. Memorial donations should be directed

to Habitat for Humanity PO Box 3323 Aiken, SC 29802.

Mr. Pottmeyer, 71, of Aiken SC, died unexpectedly on Thursday May 1, 2003

at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. He was born October 3, 1931 in

Pittsburgh, PA. He graduated from Central High School in 1949 and went on to

earn a degree in mechanical engineering from Carnegie Tech in 1953. He

received his MBA from Duquesne University in 1963. Ed enjoyed a long and

successful career with the Westinghouse Company that began in Pittsburgh. He

brought the FFTF to full power at the Hanford Nuclear Site in Richland, WA

and served as President of Westinghouse Idaho Nuclear inn Idaho Falls, ID. He

completed his career as Vice President of the Westinghouse Savannah River

Site in Aiken, SC where he retired in 1993.

Ed was an avid golfer, a huge Frank Sinatra fan and was well known for

his quick wit and terrific sense of humor. He was instrumental in creating

the new Home Rule Charter in O'Hara Twp., PA during the 1970s. He was a

communicant of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Pittsburgh and had served in the

US. Army as an engineer. He was a former Club President at Meadow Springs

Country Club, Richland, WA and a former board member at Woodside Plantation

Country Club, Aiken, SC.

Mr. Pottmeyer is survived by his wife of 49 years, Audrey Stevick

Pottmeyer; a son, Dr. Edward W. Dianne Pottmeyer, III, Redding, CA; six

daughters: Judith Mike Pottmeyer, Richland, WA; Teresa Geoff Pottmeyer,

Mercer Island, WA; Anne Adam Pottmeyer, Portland, OR; Ellen Bob Ernst,

Edmonds, WA; Patricia Paul Gordon, Medina, WA and Susan Kurt Linsenmayer,

Mill Creek, WA. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren.
