Elizabeth Hatcher Harding passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 5th, 2025, at the age of 82. A beloved resident of Aiken, South Carolina, Elizabeth was born on October 27th, 1942, in San Francisco, California.

Elizabeth was a dedicated supervisor at the ABBE Regional Library, where she devoted her career to nurturing a love of learning and reading within her community. Her passion for books and literacy enriched the lives of many, and her warm presence will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. Besides reading her hobbies were cooking and working in her yard. She was always looking for her next best recipe. Her yard was her treasure with all her beautiful flowers and plants. She could always suggest which books to read, recipes you would love and which flowers were best for our area!

Preceded in death by her cherished parents, John Brush Hatcher and Helen Silcox Hatcher, and her beloved husband, Jerry Alan Harding. Elizabeth (Sue) is survived by her three children, Susan (Beth) Wheeler, Jeffery Harding, and Jacob (Tracy) Harding. She has five grandchildren, Katria Bryant, Amanda Branch, Jake Harding, Jesse Harding, and Jodie Harvey and ten great grandchildren. Alongside many friends and community members who will deeply miss her spunky remarks, her sweet nicknames, her intelligence, and adventurous spirit.

The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until 3:00pm, Saturday, June 28, 2025, at The Historic George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave, SW, Aiken, SC 29801 (803) 629-6234.

In lieu of flowers, Elizabeth's family kindly requests donations be made in her memory to Samaritan's Purse or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, organizations close to Elizabeth's heart, reflecting her commitment to helping others and nurturing future generations.

Elizabeth Hatcher Harding's life was a testament to compassion, perseverance, and dedication. She will be remembered as an extraordinary woman whose legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.
