Ellis Edward Fulmer, age 85, of Aiken, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025. Ellis was born on June 14, 1940, in Aiken County, a son of the late Nathan B. Fulmer and Mary Day Fulmer. Ellis, known by Edward to his friends and family, lived a life defined by hard work and love for his family. A skilled pipefitter and welder, Ellis spent his career at Savannah River Site and was a proud member of Plumber & Steamfitters Local Union 150. His talents went far beyond his trade—Ellis could build, repair, or improve just about anything. Whether working under the hood of a car, fixing something around the house, or creating something new in his workshop, his hands were rarely still. Ellis found great joy in being outdoors, tending to his yard and especially his garden. Each year he planted more vegetables than his family could possibly eat, and his long rows of corn—though he never ate it himself—were a signature part of his summertime routine. Ellis was an active member of the American Legion Post 26 in Aiken, SC, and the VFW Post 6304 in Wagener, SC. A devoted member of Shiloh Baptist Church, he lived his life in service to God, his country, and his community. Among his cherished memories were riding in the Wagener Veteran’s Day Parade and taking part in his granddaughter’s elementary school Veteran’s Day celebration. Ellis honorably served his nation in the United States Army, a role he held with deep pride throughout his life. Ellis is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Lula Fulmer of Barnwell; his daughter and son-in-law, Gina and Thomas Andrew (Andy) Stevenson of Lexington; his sister Eleanor Craig of Graniteville; and his sister Jean Thomas of Aiken. He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren; Justin Shayne Fulmer, Joshua Lee (Brittany) Fulmer, Jacob Andrew Fulmer, Rebecca Glen Stevenson, Mary Hyatt Stevenson, and Krystal (Mike) Ward. In addition, he is survived by 5 great-grandchildren: William Matthew Morgan, Ava Grace Elizabeth Fulmer, Sophia Kate Fulmer, Nathan Liam Fulmer, McKinley Ellis Fulmer, and Cooper J. Fulmer. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Glenora Heath Fulmer; his son, David Craig Fulmer; and his brother, Harvey Raymond Fulmer. Ellis will be remembered for his boundless energy, his quiet determination, and the many ways he used his skills to help others. His family and friends will carry forward the lessons he taught through his example: work hard, stay humble, and take pride in what you create. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at 11:00 am at Shiloh Baptist Church, followed by a graveside service in the church cemetery.
