Gary Arling Bailey

Funeral services for Mr. Gary Arling Bailey will be private. George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Aiken, is assisting the family. Mr. Bailey, 70, of Aiken, died suddenly Saturday May 13, 2006 at his residence.

The son of the late Andrew and Georgia Byrd Bailey, he was born in Erie, PA and had lived most of his life in Darnstown, MD, before moving to Aiken in 2001. He was a retired Aerospace engineer and was recognized as being associated with the design of the earliest non-piloted drone reconasiance planes. He retired in 1994 from Vega Precision Labs in Viena, VA. . He had also worked for Martin Marietta Corporation and the former Fairchild ?Hiller Corp. Recently, Mr. Bailey assisted his son as the manager of the Bruster?s Old Fashion Ice Cream, Aiken. He was also an enthusiastic member of the CSRA Coin Club.

Mr. Bailey is survived by his wife, Sandra Lee Mead Bailey, Aiken, two sons; Kenneth and Andrew, both of Aiken and one grandson, Alexander Bailey. Memorial donations may be directed to the American Heart Association, 1003 Hammond Rd. Aiken, SC 29803.
