George Richard Heim, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 12th, 2025, at his residence in Aiken, South Carolina. Born on August 13th, 1939, in Newark, New Jersey, George lived a life filled with love, devotion, and passion. George graduated from Teterboro Aeronautical School in Teterboro, New Jersey, and proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy. He eventually settled into a fulfilling career as a Frameman, where his work ethic and dedication were always acknowledged by his peers. Beyond his professional life, George fostered a love for model trains, gardening, bowling, and a particular fondness for classic cars. These hobbies not only enriched his life but also created fond memories shared with family and friends. George was a devout Catholic having been brought up in the faith since infancy. He served as an altar boy and during his time in the Boy Scouts, he would earn the Ad Altare Dei Award. His name would be placed on a plaque which is still displayed to this day at St. Andrew Church in Clifton, New Jersey. George is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Ellen Heim; his two cherished sons, George V. "Chip" Heim of Henderson, Nevada, and Daniel G. Heim of Wehawken, NJ. He is preceded in death by his parents, George J. Heim and Rosalie B. Heim, his son, Michael John Heim, and his sister, Marilyn Heim Linden. The family will receive friends and loved ones at The Historic George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Aiken, SC, for a visitation on Wednesday, April 23rd, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, with a Rosary beginning at 6:30 pm at The Historic George Funeral Home Downtown Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be held in his honor at St. Gerard's Catholic Church, Aiken, SC, on Thursday, April 24th, 2025, at 1:00pm. George will be interred with Military Honors in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA at a day and time to be announced.
