Gregory Neil Smith Sr.

NORTH, AUGUSTA, SC-- Gregory Neil Smith Sr., 79, widower of the late Marjorie N. Smith, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Aiken Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.

Born in Hackensack, NJ on February 4, 1940, Mr. Smith was a son of the late Edward Freeman and Katherine Werder Smith. He was a retired industrial engineer. Mr. Smith’s passions were his family, fishing, guns and being an avid outdoorsman.

He leaves behind a daughter and son-in-law, Colette Smith Granger (David) of Aiken, SC; a son and daughter-in-law, Gregory Smith Jr. (Tracy) of Kernersville, NC; 6 grandchildren, David Brandon Granger, Alyssa Nicole Ganger, Timothy James Granger, Matthew John Gregory Granger, Benjamin Caleb Granger, and Makayla Faith Elizabeth Granger; and 3 great-grandchildren, Carter Mason Granger, Haulstan Martin Granger, Bella Skye Marie Granger.

In addition to his parents and his wife of 57 years, Mr. Smith was pre-deceased by a brother, Edward Smith, Jr.

Memorial services will be conducted at 4:00 PM Saturday, March 2, 2019 from Advent Lutheran Church, 3232 Washington Rd., Augusta, GA 30907, with Pastor Jason Peterson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Rifle Association of America, 11250 Waples Mill Road, Fairfax, VA 22030.
