Harry C. Cooke

Aiken?Mr. Harry C. Cooke, 80, husband of Mrs. Clara Hughes Cooke, died Thursday, November 28, at his residence. Funeral services will be held 2PM, Sunday, December 1, at George Funeral Homes, Historic Downtown Chapel, with the Rev. Edward Coursey officiating. Visitation will be held tonight form 6-8 at the funeral home. Interment will be at Sunset Memory Gardens. Mr. Cooke was a native of DeSoto, GA, and the son of the late John Conrad and Mellie Shumate Cooke. He moved to Aiken in 1953, began working for EI Dupont, at the Savannah River Plant and retired in 1984. He was a member of Charles Wesley United Methodist Church, Aiken, member of the American Legion, avid fisherman, and served his country in the US Navy during WWII. Survivors include his wife, son, Conrad Cooke, Montmorenci, daughters, Margaret Dunbar, Miami, FL., Martha ?Marty? Louise Carroll, Fredericksburg, VA, five grandchildren and one great grandchild. The family wishes that memorials be made to Charles Wesley United Methodist Church, 3510 Trolley Line Rd. Aiken, SC 29801 or to Epworth Children?s Home, 2900 Millwood Ave., Columbia, SC, 29201.
