Herbert D. (Sonny) Jones, Jr.

AIKEN, SC-- Sonny Jones, 70, of Aiken passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Agape Hospice House in Lexington following a lengthy illness.

He was born September 25, 1947 in Aiken to the late Herbert D. Jones, Sr. and Velma Sizemore Jones. He was a member of Redd’s Branch Baptist Church. He was a former employee of Graniteville Company – Avondale. He was an avid sportsman, award-winning amateur bowler and lifelong Carolina Gamecock fan. Most importantly Sonny loved his Lord and Savior and singing old southern gospel hymns.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Peggy J. Corley of Batesburg.

Surviving is his sister, Helen J. Faulkner, of Gilbert; his beloved Aunt Virginia Sizemore Satcher of Graniteville; cousins; numerous nephews, nieces and great nephews and great nieces.

Sonny was loved by all that knew him.

A funeral service will be held at Redd’s Branch Church on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at 3PM. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service Sunday.
