James Robert Mccreary

Funeral services for Mr. James Robert McCreary will take place on Friday, September 24, 2010 at 3pm at St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church, Aiken, SC. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately after the service in the Stevenson-McClelland Parish House.

Mr. McCreary, 86, of Aiken, died Thursday, September 16, 2010 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

A life long resident of Aiken, Robert was a son of the late Ernest Abercrombie McCreary and Clara Marie Cannon McCreary.

Robert was a Clemson graduate and served in the European Theatre in the US Army during WW II, earning a Bronze Star in addition to several other medals. Upon being discharged from the Army, he was commissioned in the Naval Reserve, where he served for many years. Robert was a well known architect in Aiken and Augusta, GA. He was also a long time member of St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church in Aiken.

Robert is survived by his brother; The Rev. E. Cannon McCreary, Greenville, SC; several nieces and nephews.
