James Irwin Pelkey

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. James Irwin ?Jim? Pelkey will be celebrated Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Aiken, SC. The family will receive friends following the Mass at Smith Hall.

Mr. Pelkey, 71, of Aiken, SC, died Saturday morning, January 28, 2006 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

Born in Whitehall, NY, he was the son of the late Alfred Pelkey and surviving Anna Bohannon Pelkey, 98, Hudson Falls, NY. Jim graduated from Norwich University and was an Executive Vice President at Worthington Bio-Chemical in Freehold, NJ, and retired as a Financial Executive at Millipore, Bedford, MA, in 1980. He came to Aiken, SC, from Hilton Head Island in 1998. Jim was a communicant of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church. Jim will be missed for his love and commitment to family, enviable understanding of the stock market, ?keep at it? gardening, sharing of knowledge from books, radio, and life experiences, and compassion and caring for all.

He is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Marie Mazur Pelkey; mother, Anna Bohannon Pelkey; sons, James Paul ?Jim? Pelkey wife Maria, Salisbury, MA, and Robert ?Bob? Pelkey, Bluffton, SC; daughters, Karen Louise Kuzminski husband Glenn, Beachwood, NJ, and Nancy Ann Pelkey, Guilford, CT; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family has asked that memorials in memory of Jim be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, P.O. Box 438, Aiken, SC 29802.
