James Michael Pope

A Requiem Mass for Mr. James Michael Pope will be celebrated by Fr. Matthew Gray on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 10am at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Aiken. Interment will be private.

Mr. Pope, 68, of Aiken, died September 21, 2012 at his residence.

A son of the late Michael J. Pope and Stella Shuba Pope, he was born in Pittsburgh, PA and had lived in Buffalo, NY before moving to Aiken in 1990.

James earned a BS Degree from Notre Dame University, his MS Degree and PhD Degree in Materials Science from Penn State University. His career as a nuclear engineer saw him be affiliated with the following companies; Westinghouse, Pittsburgh, West Valley, New York, Westinghouse, Savannah River Site, Duratek, Barnwell and Shaw, Savannah River Site.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Fudrow Pope, Aiken; a son, Brent P. Takako, Dallas, TX; two daughters, Lori M. Leonard Videtto, North Augusta, SC and Lisa P. Matthew Fronczak, Minnetonka, MN and a grandson, Timothy Videtto.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Building Fund at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, PO Box 438, Aiken, SC 29802.
