Jenny Lee Key

Jenny Lee Key, a beloved member of the Aiken community, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at the age of 70. Born and raised in Aiken, SC, Jenny touched the lives of many through her warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family and faith.

A cherished homemaker, Jenny was proud to dedicate her life to her family, filling their home with love, delicious meals, and homemade creations. Known affectionately as "Nana," she relished her role as grandmother, attending countless sporting events and sharing her love for cooking, baking, and jewelry-making with family and friends.

Jenny was a longtime and devoted member of Hollow Creek Baptist Church, where she attended services and participated actively in the community. Her faith was a guiding beacon throughout her life, and she found joy and solace in her church family.

Jenny is survived by her loving children, Christopher “Gruffy” Key and his wife Carol of Aiken, and Tabatha Lee Maddox and her husband Eric of Aiken; her stepdaughter, Tearesa Key Williams and her husband Benjamin of Modoc; her sisters, Peggy Pridgen and her husband Johnny of Aiken, and Renee Bodiford and her husband Ricky of Barnwell. She will also be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Shyann, Kaylee, Gracie, Cody, Justin, and Lindsay, as well as her great-grandchildren, Naomi and Kaiden, and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.

Jenny was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 47 years, Billy Allen Key; her father, Ruben Adkinson, her mother, Dorothy Atkinson; and her siblings, Brenda Reynolds and Ferrell Atkinson.

Her life will be celebrated on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at Hollow Creek Baptist Church, Aiken, SC. Visitation will begin at 3:00 pm, followed by the funeral service at 4:00 pm, officiated by Pastor Darrell Thompson. Pallbearers honoring Jenny’s memory will be Michael Franklin, Michael Moore, Jason Blackmon, Tyler Craig, Harold Craig, and Kenny Barrineau.
