Jimmie Ray Cumbee

Funeral services for Mr. Jimmie Ray Cumbee, Sr. will be held on Friday, January 14, 2011 at 2pm at Shiloh Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight Thursday from 6-8pm at GEORGE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTER, 211 Park Ave, SW, Aiken. Mr. Cumbee, 70, of Aiken, died Monday, January 10, 2011 at the University Hospital, Augusta.

A lifelong resident of Aiken, he was the son of the late Oscar E. and Arizona L. Pressley Cumbee. He served his country in the Navy and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. He retired in 1995 after 34 years of service as a supervisor at Owens Corning Fiberglass. Ray loved hunting, fishing, farming, going to the flea market and collecting antiques.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Tony Cumbee. He is survived by his wife, Voncille Holsonback Cumbee, sons, Jimmie R. Cumbee, Jr., Mark Cathy D. Cumbee, both of Aiken, brothers, Eddie Cumbee, James Cumbee, Steve Cumbee, sister, Jackie Medlin, grandchildren, Justin Cumbee, Jasen Cumbee, Katie Cumbee, Morgan Cumbee, Cameron Cumbee, great grandchildren, Emily Romine, cousins, Lunette Yonce, and Joe Cumbee.
