Mr. McMurtrie, 92, of Aiken, died Friday, February 25, 2011.

His humor, intellect, and commitment to his family endeared him to all who knew him.

He was predeceased by his wife, of fifty-one years, Mary B. McMurtie and is survived by their children; Susan M. Alan Rutherfurd, John Theodore Jo McMurtrie, Jr, John Young Deborah McMurtrie, II, Ann Brad Stauffer, Cory Wilcox Darya McMurtrie, Maidi M. Thompson, Elizabeth Stuart and fourteen grandchildren.
