Funeral services for Mr. Johnny Lee Funderburk will be held Tuesday, August 30, 2005 at 3 PM at George Funeral Homes, Historic Downtown Chapel, 211 Park Ave., SW, Aiken, SC with Pastor Ralph Schneck and Pastor Jim Middleton officiating. Interment will follow in the Graniteville Cemetery, Graniteville, SC. Pallbearers will be Mark Steele, Wayne Steele, Larry Gregory, Jr., Kevin Gregory, Buddy Davis, Carl ?Butch? Chandler, Jerry Carlisle, and Vernon Irving. The family will receive friends, Monday, August 29, 2005 from 6 until 8 PM at the funeral home.

Mr. Funderburk, 61, of Aiken, SC, died Saturday, afternoon, August 27, 2005 at Palmetto Health Richland, Columbia, SC.

Born in Covington, GA, a son of the late Joseph A. Funderburk and the late Laura Hilda Morrow Duffie, he had been a resident of Aiken, SC for most of his life. Johnny proudly served his country in the United States Navy where he was a machinist. He founded Funderburk Motors in 1987 and retired from Kimberly-Clark where he was a machinist after seventeen years of service in 1998. Johnny loved fishing, boating, and auto racing, but he loved his family more than anything and spent as much time with them as he could.

He is survived by his wife of forty-years, Louise Skipper Funderburk, daughter, Lisa Carol Whitman, Darryl New Ellenton, SC; sons, Joseph A. ?Joe? Funderburk, and David Lee Funderburk, Diane both of Aiken, SC; sisters, Frances Lord, David Union Point, GA, Mary Carpenter, David Wrens, GA and Sue Steele, Wayne Lexington, SC; brothers, Jimmy Lee Funderburk, Laverne Jackson, SC and Larry Benjamin Gregory, Janet Aiken, SC; and four grandchildren who he adored and also adored him, Laura, Bridgette , Justin, and Brittany.
