Joseph J. Rocco

AIKEN, SC—Joseph J. Rocco, age 80, entered into rest peacefully on Wednesday, June 6, 2018.

Mr. Rocco was born January 5, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Joseph John Rocco and the late Julia Ahearn Rocco. He proudly served his country in the US Army and spent his working career in the trucking industry. Mr. Rocco has made Aiken, SC his home for the past sixteen years, having previously lived on Long Island, NY. He was a communicant of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church and volunteered his time at ACTS. Known as the “pool shark” at the billiards table of Kalmia Landing, Joe also enjoyed playing golf at Aiken Golf Club.

Mr. Rocco is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Florence Rocco; a daughter, Laura Carpenter (James) Lake Clear, NY; two sons, Joseph J. Rocco, Port Jefferson, NY and Christopher Rocco (Amy), Kings Park, NY; seven grandchildren, Renée, Charlie, Maggie, Alex, Nicholas, Joe, and Mary Katherine.

A prayer service will be held at 6:15 PM Friday evening at George Funeral Home followed by visitation until 7:45 PM.

A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 PM on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at the Old historic St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Park Ave., with Father Michel Bineen Mukad as celebrant. Final prayers and commendation will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
