Joseph John Zerba

Joseph John Zerba, 88, of Wadley GA. Passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2023.

Born in Erie, PA on September 4, 1938, he was the son of the late Joseph & Florence Kroleh Szczerba. Joe started working at twelve years old shining shoes for ten cents a pair. At 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was a plank owner of DL 3 USS John S. McCain serving as a boiler operator. After four years in the Navy, Joe worked as an auto mechanic in Pennsylvania and Florida. He served on the Town Medley FL Police force as an officer and Chief. After working as court security in South Beach, Joe moved to Wadley GA where he worked for the George Department of Corrections until his retirement.

Joe is survived by daughters, Karen (Rick) Bedow of Edinboro, PA and Sandra Hudson of Claremore, OK and former son-in-law, Mark (Deneene) Hudson of Graniteville, SC. He is also survived by a large number of grand and great-grandchildren.

Joe became of member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Wadley, GA. He loved his church, and they showed him much kindness. According to Joe’s wishes, he will be cremated. And his cremains will be buried at St. John’s graveyard in Wadley at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made the St. John’s United Methodist Church, 3338 Hwy 78, Wadley, GA, 30477.
