Julia Hammonds

October 13, 1938 — February 29, 2004

Funeral services for Julia R. Miles Hammonds will be held on Wednesday, March 3, 2004 at 11am at Shiloh Baptist Church with Rev. Leo Woods and Rev. Taylor Wells officiating. Mrs. Hammonds will be placed in church at 10am. Pallbearers will be sons and grandsons. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening, from 6-8pm at George Funeral Homes Historic Downtown Chapel 211 Park Ave. SW. Mrs. Hammonds, 65, of Aiken, died Sunday at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. A daughter of the late Willie & Ola Jane Matthews Miles, she was born in Cowards, SC and had lived in Alabama and Florence, SC before moving to Aiken 25 years ago. Before retiring in 1993, she had been a line operator at Thermodisk/ASCO, in Aiken.

Mrs. Hammonds was pre deceased by a brother and a sister. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Bobby Gene Hammonds, Aiken, five sons; Jesse Roberts, Aiken, Earl ?Butch? Roberts, Hepzibah, GA, Steven Wayne Roberts, Greenville, SC, Kenny Sharpe, Brunswick, GA and Bobby Hammonds, Aiken, two daughters; Shirley Jean Robinson, Roswell, GA and Patricia Anne Derrick, Roswell, GA, a sister; Jean Van Hoosier, Florence, SC, 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
