Laura C Jarvi

Laura Cavalcante Jarvi, 73, beloved wife of Kenneth G. Jarvi, passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday morning, October 16, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Jarvi was born on November 8, 1947 in Brooklyn, New York, a daughter of the late Vito Andrew and Isabella Esposito Cavalcante. Mrs. Jarvi was a retired secretary (but considered it a ministry more than a job) at St. Mary Help of Christian Church in Aiken where she was a communicant. In addition, Mrs. Jarvi was a founding member of the Secular Franciscan Order at St. Mary Help of Christian Church. Most of all she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all those she met.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca Lynn (Duck) Duncan of Aiken; a son and daughter-in-law, Jason Michael (Sama) Tufts of Aiken; 2 sisters, Toniann (Kenneth) Buschow of Aiken & Joanna Cavalcante of Melbourne, Fl,; 4 grandchildren, Jeremiah Tufts, Owen Osteen, Javin Williams & Myla Tufts; a godson, Matthew Cavalcante of Melbourne, Fl; a nephew, Adam Piazza of North Augusta; and two sisters-in-law, Donna Jarvi of Zion, Il & Patricia Tantillo of Tuscon, AZ.

A Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 22, 2021 at 11:00am at St. Mary Help of Christian Church 138 Fairfield St. SE, Aiken, SC 29801 with the Very Rev. Gregory Wilson officiating. Rites of Christian Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, 1255 University Lane, Aiken, SC 29801.

The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Thursday, October 21, 2021 at the Historic George Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave SW, Aiken, SC 92801 (803) 649.6234. A Secular Franciscan Order Wake Service will be held at 6:30pm.
