Lula D. Powell

Graveside services for Mrs. Lula Grace Powell will be held Friday, September 1, 2006 at 11am at Southlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 7pm ? 8pm at George Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 211 Park Avenue, SW, Aiken.

Mrs. Powell, 83, of New Ellenton, died Monday afternoon at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

Mrs. Powell was born in Wenasoga, MS to the late Sidney and Sarah Elizabeth Woods Dixon. She attended school in Mississippi, then owned and operated a coffee shop for many years .She moved to Aiken County in 1951 and then married Wayne H. Powell in October of 1967.

In addition to her parents is also predeceased by a son Otis Paul Denton, Jr. and by several brothers and sisters. Mrs. Powell is survived by her husband Wayne H. Powell, a son, Cecil Ray Jane Denton, Sheffield, AL; a daughter, Rose Mary Wise, Tuscumbia, AL; five sisters, Bernice Nunley, Iuka, MS, Betty McGraw, Iuka, MS, Dale Varnum, Leesburg, Fl., Billie Jean Thompson, Leesburg, FL, Renie Hornsby, New Ellenton, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one special niece Dawn Ricky Foster, New Ellenton, two special great-nieces Brittany Foster and Morgan Foster, New Ellenton and one special daughter-in-law Gay Denton, Homosassa, Fl.
