Margaret Raines Braswell

July 10, 1932 — October 21, 2015

Mrs. Margaret "TuTu" Raines Braswell, 83, of New Ellenton, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Saturday, at Corinth Baptist Church, burial will follow in the church cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Brancie Stephens and Rev. Joseph Thomas. The Senior Ladies Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. Active Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Friday at GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, 211 Park Ave., SW, Aiken. Memorial donations to Corinth Baptist Church, PO Box 454, New Ellenton, SC, 29809, for Connie Maxwell Children's Home.

Born in Walton County, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Ruby and Jessie Williams Raines. Mrs. Braswell was a member of Corinth Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School Teacher and director of the WMU, Aiken Baptist Association. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Z. Braswell, Jr., a sister, Catherine Bohanan and brothers, Fred and Buck Raines.

Survivors include her sons, Tommy Braswell (Pam) of New Ellenton and Kenneth Braswell (Sheila) of Alexandria, VA; daughters, Deborah Thomas (Tim) of Aiken and Trudy Stowell (Mike) of New Ellenton; brothers, Ashley Raines (Rachel) of Walnut Grove, Georgia and Charles Raines (Mary Jean) of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; a sister-in-law, Polly Landress (Harold) of Loganville, Georgia; grandchildren, Chaplain Daniel Braswell (Cheryl) of Ft. Drum, NY, Ruth Braswell of New Ellenton, John Braswell (Deanna) of Liberty, Jason Braswell (Wendy) of Baltimore, Lori Gallagher (Tim) of Baltimore, Rebekah Thomas of Aiken, Joseph Thomas (Leah) of Aiken, Staci Weeks (Shawn) of Lugoff and Ashley Stergar (Justin) of Aiken; great-grandchildren, Lexie, Michael, Joshua, Shamirra, Rachel, Bruce and Savannah Braswell, Jonah and Landry Thomas, Natalee Weeks, Jack Weeks, Michael Weeks and Marshall Stergar.
