Margie Hill Plunkett

Margie Hill Plunkett, age 92, of Aiken, SC, passed away on Monday, June 24th, 2024 at God's Haven of Rest following an extended illness.

She was born in Sylvania, GA on August 11th, 1931, a daughter of the late Austin Matthew and Susie Mae Ward Hill.

Mrs. Plunkett was elected in 1976 to serve as the Treasurer for Aiken County. She served in that role until her retirement in 1997. She was a dedicated civil servant and will be remembered for her hard work and commitment to the community.

She is survived by her two sons, Dennis Michael Plunkett of Canada and Mitchell Brian & Angela Plunkett of Aiken; one sister, Faye H. Harvey of Sylvania; two grandchildren, Mitchell Brian (Jennifer) Plunkett, Jr. of Aiken & Eric Martin Fanning of Augusta; five great grandchildren; nieces, Martha Harvey, Georgia Kaye H. (Danny) Daughtry, Julie H. (Jay) Page, and Sonya H. (Scott) Krug; and nephews, Gary Hill, Gerald Hill, Ronnie (Wendy) Hill, Ricky (Laura) Hill, and Randy (Melissa) Hill.

Mrs. Plunkett was preceded in death by a son, Martin Eric Plunkett; brother and sister-in-law, A.M. (Junior) & Jackie Hill, Jr; and brother-in-law, Richard Harvey.

Funeral services will be conducted at Hurst Baptist Church, 729 Hurst Church Road, Sylvania, GA, 30647 on Monday, July 1st, 2024, at 11:00am, Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be at The Historic George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave SW, Aiken, SC 29801 (803) 649-6234 on Sunday, June 30th, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
