Marion L. Walker

Funeral services for Mr. Marion L. ?Jim? Walker will be held on Friday, May 5, 2006 at 2:00pm at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Langley. Visitation will be on Friday from 1:00pm until the time of the service. Mr. Walker, 95, of Aiken, died Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at his residence under the care of Hitchcock Hospice.

A son of the late John Hoke and Mattie E. Abernathy Walker, he was born in Spartanburg, SC and had lived in New York before moving to Aiken in 1980.

He served his Country in the United States Army and Army Air Corps. He was a sound specialist and was recognized for his work in helping to wire the United Nations Headquarters and Radio City Music Hall in New York.

Mr. Walker was a member of Kalmia Hill Chapel, The American Legion, the Army National Guard and Reserves. He was predeceased by his wife, Mildred Getzelman Walker and seven brothers and sisters. Surviving are three daughters, Juanita Ruth, Aiken, Mary Lou Mannix, Arkansas, and Betty Cunningham, Florida, two stepchildren; Harry Lounsbury, Aiken and Elaine Fitzroy, New Jersey. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.

Memorial donations may be directed to Kalmia Hill Chapel or to Hitchcock Hospice.
