Mrs. Martha Andes Morgan

Martha Andes Morgan, a resident of Aiken, SC for more than fifty years,

died Friday, June 30th, 2006 at home. She was 86.

The daughter of George Milton Andes and Martha Trout Brown Andes, Mrs.

Morgan was born and raised in Martinsville, VA. A civilian secretary working for the Army during World War II, she met her late husband, Harold E. Morgan, Jr. while

serving in Hawaii. Married in November 1946, the couple raised four boys

in Aiken.

A member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Aiken, Mrs. Morgan was an

active churchgoer. She also enjoyed tennis, bridge, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her brother, Tarleton Rives Andes of Martinsville, VA; her sister, Mary Spotswood Andes Davis of Hickory, NC; her four sons: the Rev. Harold E. Morgan III of Christiansburg, VA; James Tarleton Morgan of Flemington, NJ; George F. Morgan of Chapel Hill, NC; and John A. Morgan, of Aiken; and three grandchildren: Christina E. Morgan of Silver Spring, MD; Andrew C. Morgan of Flemington, NJ; and Emily E. Morgan of Aiken.,

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 5th, 2006 at 1pm at St. John's United Methodist Church in Aiken. A reception will follow in Ward Hall after the service In lieu of flowers, friends and relatives are asked to make memorial contributions in her honor to St. John's United Methodist Church. 104 Newberry St. NW, Aiken, SC 29801. George Funeral Home & Cremation Center , 211 Park Avenue, SW, Aiken is assisting the family.
