Mary Elizabeth Bennett

Memorial services for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Bennett will be held Monday, October 3, 2005 at 2pm at Corinth Baptist Church, New Ellenton with Rev. Robbie Vance officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday night from 6-8pm at the Bennett residence. Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, PO Box K, Aiken, SC 29802. There will be no calling hours at George Funeral Homes, Historic Downtown Chapel, Aiken.

Mrs. Bennett, 82, of Aiken, died, Friday at University Hospital, Augusta.

She was born in Fire Creek, WV to the late Jesse and Hazel Higginbotham and lived in Aiken most of her life. She was member of Corinth Baptist Church and had been a foster mother to many children over the years.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bennett is predeceased by her husband, Harold W. Bennett, a brother, David Higginbotham, and two sisters, Lillian McKinney and Helen Thomas.

Mrs. Bennett is survived by four daughters; Connie Jeffreys Steve, Killeen, TX, Sherri Atkinson Lenny, Aiken, Cindy Haynie Sigman, Grovetown, GA and Becky Bennett, Augusta, GA two sisters; Hazel Adkisson and Jessie Houhins, Cocoa Beach, FL, and a brother, Charlie Higginbotham, Cocoa Beach, FL.

She is also survived by nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
