Mary Ann Calve

AIKEN, SC – Mary Ann Calve, age 86, entered into rest peacefully at her residence on Monday, April 10, 2018 following a brief illness.

Mrs. Calve was born October 21, 1931 in Ellwood City, PA to the late James and Mary Fox. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1949 and St. Francis Hospital Nursing School in 1952 as a Registered Nurse. She also received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing in 1970 from Slippery Rock University where she was accepted into the Slippery Rock Nursing Honor Society. Mrs. Calve was proud of the fact that she went back to school while working and earned her Master’s Degree from Westminster College in 1976.

Mrs. Calve worked as a Clinical Nurse, an Industrial Nurse, and as a School Nurse which was her real love, for 15 years.

Mrs. Calve is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Nick A. Calve; three children, Jim P. Calve (Lucia), John N. Calve (Ned Read), and Joann Calve (Lester Taylor, Ph.D.); and three grandchildren, John Calve, Lauren Calve, Michael Calve.

A prayer service will be held Monday, April 16, 2018 at 2:00 PM with visitation following until 4:00 PM at George Funeral Home in downtown Aiken.

A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at the Old Historic St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Park Ave., with the Very Rev. Father Gregory Wilson as celebrant. Interment will be private.
