Mary Elizabeth Daves

March 26, 1928 — September 30, 2003

Mary Elizabeth Cook Daves, widow of Harold Leon Daves died Tuesday, September 30, 2003 at Rosecrest Retirement Community near Spartanburg, SC. Born in Eutaw, Alabama, Mrs. Daves was the daughter of the late Thomas E. and Lida Stanfield Cook. She moved to Aiken with her husband during the startup of Savannah River Site. She was active in various local organizations and civic functions throughout her lifetime.

Surviving are her sons, Samuel Alexander Daves of Spartanburg and Harold Leon Daves Jr. of Aiken; a brother Thomas Cook Jr. of Pensacola Fl.; a sister Iladell Alonzo of Auburn, Ca.; and six grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister Faye Rothenberg of Hanover, Md.

Graveside services will be held at St. Paul United Methodist Church Cemetery in New Ellenton on Friday, October 3, 2003 at 2pm. Visitation will be this evening Thursday from 6-8pm at George Funeral Homes Southside Chapel 3175 Whiskey Rd. Aiken.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church Building Fund.
