Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Birdsall McMurtrie will be private. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 12 ? 2pm at George Funeral Homes Historic Downtown Chapel 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken, Memorial donations may be directed to St. Joseph Hospice or the Aiken SPCA.

Mrs. McMurtrie, of Aiken, died Friday at her residence. A daughter of the late Russell Wallace and Sarah Wilcox Birdsall, she was born in Elizabeth, NJ and lived in Aiken since 1956.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, John Theodore McMurtrie, Sr., Aiken, seven children; Susan M. Rutherfurd, Aiken, John T. McMurtrie, Jr., Auburn, AL, John Y. McMurtrie, II, Aiken, Ann M. Stauffer, Aiken, Cory W. McMurtrie, Aiken, Maidi M. Thompson, Bluffton, SC, Elizabeth M. Parker, Aiken, a brother; Russell W. Birdsall, Aiken, Aiken and fourteen grandchildren.
