Mary Ellen Thomas

AIKEN, SC – Mary Ellen Thomas, age 90, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, September 20, 2023.

Mrs. Thomas was born in Blythe, GA to the late Jessie Irvin Mundy Sr. and the late Lettie Tebow Mundy. She had been a resident of Aiken, SC since 1942 and was baptized in Shiloh Springs. She grew up attending Shiloh Baptist Church. Mrs. Thomas had a passion for gardening and loved roses and cross stitching.

In addition to her parents, her husband, Jesse Cleveland “Cleve” Thomas Jr.; a son, Flint Thomas; three brothers; Irvin Mundy Jr, Robert Mundy, Mac Mundy and a sister, Marian Thomas, preceded Mrs. Thomas in death.

Survivors include six sons, Cleve Thomas (Sally), Whit Thomas (Nancy), Tim Thomas (Deborah), Tom Thomas (Liz), John Thomas (Ericka), and Matt Thomas (Donna); six grandchildren, Charles Thomas, Jonathan Thomas, Rebekah Thomas, Joseph Thomas (Leah), Wyatt Thomas, and Caroline Thomas; four great-grandchildren, Jonah Thomas, Landry Thomas, Witten Thomas, and Lainee Thomas; and a sister, Melba Seigler (Roland).

The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, September 24, 2023, at George Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. in The George Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Dr. Chris Masters will officiate. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Aiken, SC.
