Matthew Gerard Park, beloved son, brother, and uncle, passed away on Sunday, March 10th, 2024, in Aiken, SC.

He was born on November 21st, 1964, in Fostoria, Ohio to Carol Annette Park and the late James Alvin Park.

Matthew was a devoted Journeyman Electrician and proudly served in the Navy, receiving numerous honors including the National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon W/2 Bronze Stars, Southwest Asia Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, Kuwait Liberation Medal, and the Navy Unit Commendation. In his spare time, he enjoyed researching his family history and was always excited to share new discoveries with his loved ones.

In addition to his father, Matthew was preceded in death by a brother, Christopher James Park.

He is survived by his mother Carol Annette Park of Aiken; a sister and brother-in-law, Roseanne Park (Andy) Redd of Aiken; 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, Steven Anthony Park (currently missing), Michael James (Debbie) Park of Ranson, W.VA., Joseph Arthur (Trici) Park of Aiken & David Charles (Juanita) Park of Aiken; 2 nephews, Joshua Adam (Kindra) Redd of Long Island, NY & Landon Joseph Park of Aiken; 4 nieces, Vicki Redd Mitchell of Aiken, Carolyn Margaret Park of Stephen City, Va, Anna Marie Park, Ranson, W. VA., Lauren MacKenzie Park of Anderson, SC; 2 grand nieces, Rainey Kate Mitchell & Reagan Parker Mitchell.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church 203 Park Ave SW, Aiken, SC 29801 on Tuesday, March 19th, 2024, at 2:00pm with Rev. Orlando Serrano Ardila as celebrant.

Those serving as active pallbearers will be Adam Calvert, Cole Grice, John Tucker, Norman Strickland, Landon Park and Joshua Redd. These gentlemen are asked to meet at St. Mary Help of Christians' Catholic Church at 1:45pm on Tuesday afternoon.

A private family committal service with military honors will take place in Beaufort National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Monday evening, March 18, 2024, beginning at 5:00pm at the Historic George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave SW, Aiken, SC 29801 (803) 649-6234. A prayer service will be held beginning at 6:15pm in the Historic George Funeral Home Downtown Chapel.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Matthew's memory.

Matthew will be remembered for his kindness, dedication, and the passion he had for uncovering his family's history. He is now reunited with his father in heaven, joining all those relatives he researched and cherished throughout his life.
