Melissa Marie Chavis

June 12, 1970 — June 13, 2025

Melissa Marie Chavis, born on Friday, June 12th, 1970, in West Palm Beach, Florida, peacefully passed away on Friday, June 13th, 2025, at the age of 55. She was a resident of Salley, South Carolina, where she made her home filled with love and warmth.

Melissa is survived by her children: her son, Michael Anthony Chavis of Salley, SC, and her daughter, Brennan Leigh Sweatman of Moncks Corner, SC. Her legacy and spirit live on in their hearts and lives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilson Peter Chavis and Frances Elaine Hopper, with whom she is now reunited in eternal peace.

Despite her disability, Melissa demonstrated incredible strength and resilience throughout her life, touching the lives of many with her kindness and understanding. Her ability to find joy in the small moments was an inspiration to all who knew her.

In honor of Melissa’s caring nature and love for animals, the family requests that donations be made to FOTAS, an organization she supported and held dear to her heart.

While words cannot fully encompass the vibrant spirit of Melissa, her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends. Though she is no longer physically with us, her essence continues to shine through the lives she touched.
