AIKEN, SC – Milton Bernard Zelman, age 80, died January 21, 2025.
Milton was born January 7, 1945, in Utica, NY to the late Sol and Grace Zelman. He received his bachelor’s degree in fine arts from Rhode Island School of Design. He spent his career as a well-respected graphic artist in the publication industry. Milton made Aiken, SC his home since 2015, having previously lived in Manhattan, New York for many years. He enjoyed traveling extensively, gardening, cooking, and entertaining. He had a intellect in language – learning Chinese, Mandurian, French, and Spanish. He was also a very talented photographer. Additionally, Milton had an affection for animals, especially his dogs, Shorty and Jet. He will be remembered as very private, but social person.
Survivors include his husband, Robert J. Defendorf; a sister, Leslie Holland (Howard); and two nieces, Halle Radcliffe and Elysia Lippman.
In honoring Milton’s wishes, no formal services will be held.
