AIKEN, SC – Carolyn Surrency, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2021 at home surrounded by her children and family. She was 84.

She leaves behind three children, Allen Surrency, Gainesville, Fl; Holly Surrency (Ronnie Chance, Jr.), Aiken, SC; Tammy Surrency (Tim Bey), Aiken, SC; Grandchildren, Lauren Bey and Jack Bey. Sisters, Paulette Berg, Gainesville, Fl. and Julie Riley, Alachua, Fl. As well as numerous nieces and nephews. Carolyn was born May 26, 1936 in Gainesville, Fl to the late Otto and Alma Hinson. A graduate of Gainesville High School in 1955, she worked in banking and accounting for most of her career. Aside from raising a family, she loved painting and traveling. She traveled across most of the U.S. with her family and friends. Some of her biggest adventures were to Hawaii and Alaska.

She was a member of the Florida Goal Liners, the Gainesville Garden Club and Red Hats. Carolyn enjoyed cheering for her beloved Florida Gators at football games, gymnastic meets and volleyball matches. In the last nine years, she relocated from Gainesville, Fl to Aiken, SC to be closer to her grandchildren. Her greatest pride and joy were watching her grandbabies play sports, taking trips with them to Disney and celebrating their birthdays. She continued Red Hats, joined Newcomers, WOW and the Lunch Bunch. Always the social butterfly, she never met a stranger.

Mama and Grandma… We will miss your smiles, your laugh, your hugs and kisses. Your stories and funny sayings. Your grace and kindness. Especially, we will miss your gift of seeing beauty in everything. We love you, always.

My Big Sister of 77 years. Oh, how I was blessed God gave you to Me. There is a void in my life that cannot be replaced but I know we will be together again one day. “Forever in my heart” I love you, Polly

For my beautiful big sister – Of all the many blessings, however great or small. To have had you for a sister was the greatest one of all. The family chain is broken now and nothing seems the same. But as God takes us one by one, the chain will link again. - Carolyn, I will always keep you in my heart. I am gonna miss you, Sis. I do already. Love, Julie
