Naomi Phillips

Wife of Dr. Joseph Phillips (deceased), mother of Marianne and Lisa, grandmother of Jenny and great grandmother of Ethan and Aaron. Her role in life, by her own account, was to be a wife and mother. But she had an eye that saw the swelling of forsythia just before blooming. She had an eye for the ordinary that impelled those around her to look more closely to see the shades of blue and yellow and green in everyday scenes, and to see what drama a small shock of red, the edge of a scarf or the berry left over from the fall, could cause in the world. She was a wife and mother. She was an artist and painter of many gifts, among them truly seeing, sharing what she saw, and urging those around her to see again, to see anew and to see with eyes of wonder. Her children will always dream in color.
