Nell Townsend Wise

Aiken----Mrs. Nell Townsend Wise, 85, wife of the late Walter William Wise, Jr., died Sunday, February 23, 2003 at Cumberland Village Assisted Living. Graveside services will be held 11AM Tuesday, February 25 at Bethany Cemetery, Aiken, SC. Mrs. Wise was a native of Lake View, SC, lived in Trenton, SC 60 years before moving to Cumberland Village in 1999. She was the daughter of the late Perry William and Mayo H. Grubbs Townsend. Mrs. Wise was a member of Trenton Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Winthrop College in 1939, and did post graduate work at USC-Columbia, Columbia College and Augusta College. She worked as teacher and Librarian for 34 years before retiring from the Edgefield County school system. Mrs. Wise was a woman of strong Christian faith, with a deep love for her family, community and the many students she taught. Survivors include her son, Walter W. Wise, III, Aiken, daughters; Carole Wise, Trenton, and Nancy Wise Neal, and her husband Jimmy Neal, Camden, SC and two grandchildren, Callie and Zack Neal. The family wishes that memorials be made to a church or charity of your choice.
