Nelson Winslow Kimball Iii

Nelson "Pete" Kimball passed away peacefully on Tuesday September 17th with his wife Carol by his side. Peter and Carol have resided in Aiken for the past 20 years and have been members of the St. John's Methodist church of Aiken.

Pete was born in New York City and was raised in Ardsley Park, NY. He attended Choate Preparatory boarding School and completed his secondary education at Rollins College in Winter Park, FL., receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. Pete was very active in his collegiate years, playing tennis and lacrosse, and was the President of his fraternity Delta Chi.

Pete worked in the paper industry for his entire life, selling for Great Northern Nekoosa, and Chatfield Paper company.

Pete had many hobbies, he enjoyed reading, playing tennis, spending time at the beach, and sailing. He was also an Elder at Noroton Presbyterian Church in Darien, Ct. where he enjoyed working with his church community.

In retirement Pete worked as a ground's keeper at the Aiken Golf Club and also enjoyed volunteered at the Aiken Equine horse farm. He was predeceased by his father and mother Nelson and Angelica Kimball, and his brother Rudolph Schuyler.

Pete is survived by his wife Carol Kimball; his eldest son, Michael Kimball and wife Ann Mary of Lincoln, RI; his daughter Kathryn Kimball-Trevino and husband Henry Trevino of Greenville, NC; and youngest son, Christopher Kimball and his wife Lea of Norwalk, Ct.; 7 Grand Children Christopher, Cameron and Jason Kimball of Lincoln ,RI, Genevieve, Grace, and Cole Kimball of Norwalk, Ct. and Austin Trevino of Greenville NC.

A memorial service will be held Friday, September 20th at 11:00 am at St. John’s Methodist Church with the Rev. Butch Blackwell officiating.

The Historic George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave., SW, Aiken, SC 29801 (803.649.6234), has charge of arrangements.
