Patsey Mae Powers

Mrs. Patsey Mae Powers, 81, of Aiken, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers following an illness. Services will be held at a later date in the family cemetery and are under the care of GEORGE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTER, Aiken.

Born in Chase City, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Fletcher & Dorothy Callis Martin. Mrs. Powers was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Aiken an d St. Peters Episcopal Church of Deleware, Ohio. Mrs. Powers started as a Red Cross Grey Lady in 1955 and reached the pinnacle of her volunteer career by serving on the Board of Governors from 1999 to 2005. There she served on the International Services, Human Resources and Disaster/Chapter Services Committees. She received the Harriman Award, the highest recognition for volunteer service in the American Red Cross. Mrs. Powers was preceded in death by her husband, Cdr. George Phillip Powers.

Survivors include: a son Greg Melanie Powers, Aiken; daughters, Lynne Juerg Weber, Bern, Switzerland; Jan Jack Jordan, Yorktown, VA; grandchildren, Elizabeth Mike Allen, Amanda Jordan, Gregg Allie Powers, Philip Powers and Meleah Powers, Rino Sabine Weber, Nathalie Weber, Isabelle Weber & Jan Weber.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Red Cross, PO Box 91, Columbia, SC, 29201.
