Peter Anthony Schmidt

Funeral services for Mr. Peter Anthony Schmidt will take place on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 10am at the chapel of George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave. SW with Deacon Bob Waters officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Mr. Schmidt, 70, of Gaston, SC died Wednesday February 15, 2012 at Rapha Residential Care, Gaston.

A son of the late Richard A. Schmidt, Sr. and Rita Herrly Schmidt, he was born in Niagra Falls, NY and he had lived in Canada and then Peoria, IL before moving to Aiken in 1990.

He was a veteran of the US Air Force and a communicant of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Aiken.

A chemist for the US Department of Agriculture by profession, he enjoyed astronomy and almost anything having to do with the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.

He is survived by three brothers, Richard A. Schmidt, Jr, Arvada, CO, Tom Schmidt, Covington, GA and Bill Lynda Schmidt, Martinez, GA.
