With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Richard O. Garcia, Aiken, SC, who departed this life on Sunday, June 8th, 2025, at the age of 80.
Born on July 30th, 1944, in Durham, North Carolina, Richard was the son of the late Orlando Garcia and Vera Alise Pollard Garcia.
Richard dedicated his professional life to banking, where his acumen and integrity earned him the respect and admiration of clients and colleagues alike. An advocate of senior and rehabilitative care, he transitioned into the field of healthcare prior to retirement.
Richard, a member of Rotary Club of Aiken, was a distinguished Rotarian and launched the Aiken Sunrise Rotary Club. His commitment to service was exemplified by his status as a Paul Harris Fellow and his active participation in the Alzheimer’s Walk, The Aiken Chamber of Commerce, the Salvation Army Christmas Drive and Wreaths Across America, to name a few.
Richard was involved with Cedar Creek Church, where his spirit enriched the lives of many. A patriot and man of faith, Richard was a loving father and grandad whose warmth and wisdom will be missed by his family and the many who were blessed to know him.
Richard is survived by his beloved children, son Michael Garcia and his wife Meagan of Savannah, GA, and daughter Lindsey Widener and her husband Dusty of Aiken, SC. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Cameron, Dawson, Adelaide, and Macie.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 14th, 2025, at 12:00 pm in the Chapel of the Historic George Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave SW, Aiken, SC, 29801(803) 649-6234, followed by a reception from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm, where family and friends can share memories and pay their respects.
Richard's contributions to his family, community, and the causes he championed will be remembered and celebrated by all who knew him.
