Richard Patrick Healey

Richard Patrick (Dick) Healey, 94, passed away peacefully at home on Aug. 7, 2025, in Aiken, SC. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Loretta, son Michael, daughter-in-law, Sheza, and granddaughter, Una. Born on November 6, 1930, in Fairhaven, Massachusetts, the youngest of five children, he was motivated by his family, friends and experiences. He graduated from Fairhaven High School in 1948 and went on to graduate from Bryant College in Providence, Rhode Island, after serving 4 years in the Air Force where he was stationed in Seoul, Korea. After graduation from college, he began his career at the main office of Owens-Corning Fiberglas in Toledo, Ohio. During his 30 years with the company, he had many positions and became Vice-President of the Contracting division. After his retirement in 1986, he developed a start-up company focused on contracting software. In 1992, he moved to Hilton Head, South Carolina, and began another career in real estate that would last 15 years until he moved to Aiken, SC. One of the joys of his life was as a private pilot. He also enjoyed building projects. Over the years, he built a television set, a kit car convertible and an ultralight aircraft. He was featured in The Toledo Blade flying an ultralight plane he built. At age 80, he built a 2-seater airplane. Life was good with family, friends, dogs and cats, country music, golf, and a touch of Irish Whiskey. His faith was always important. He helped to build many Catholic churches as he moved around the country. He was a communicant of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Aiken. A Requiem Mass will be celebrated Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 12:30 PM at old St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Park Ave. The Historic George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave., SW, Aiken, SC 29801 (803.649.6234), has charge of arrangements.
